One of my favourite books is entitled:
\n‘Success with Stocks and Stares.’<\/p>\n
The subtitle to this work being:
\n‘A practical guide to profitable investment.’<\/p>\n
Written by John B Gledhill and Frank Preston, it was
\npublished in 1938.<\/p>\n
The book is illustrated by W Heath Robinson.<\/p>\n
Two of his drawings clearly illustrates just how a bull and
\nmarket work.<\/p>\n
Although many of the technical details within this book are
\nvery dated:
\nmuch of the advice in this work still holds true.<\/p>\n
Here are a few examples: –<\/p>\n
– Beware of boom flotations.<\/p>\n
– Don’t borrow money to gamble on the stock exchange.<\/p>\n
– Beware of market under-currents.<\/p>\n
– Beware of bucket shop literature.<\/p>\n
– Axioms do not always work.<\/p>\n
&<\/p>\n
– Remember a mine is a diminishing asset.<\/p>\n
This is also something of a good piece of ecological advice.<\/p>\n
If only some of the people who now run the financial industry
\nhad read this work,
\nthen we might not be in the kind of global fiscal mess that
