When I used to work in C & W May ( theatrical Costumiers ),
\nthere was a guy who worked in the place who would explain
\nthat the look of the costumes which people wear is not always
\njust a question of what is in fashion at the time.<\/p>\n
As he put the point, it was never a question of:
\n‘Right lads! It’s 1930! All change in to these new costumes!’<\/p>\n
Just look at come of the photos of Laurence Housman which
\nwere taken during that decade, and you will see him wearing a
\nwing collar: Something that was very fashionable within an
\nearlier era.<\/p>\n
As with clothing – The same with politics.<\/p>\n
Some of us are still banging on about issues which were highly
\nfashionable to campaign upon a few decades back.<\/p>\n
Though unlike clothing fashions – some political fashions do
\nnot date in terms of what is are immediate problems which need
\nto be addressed.<\/p>\n
I was reminded of all this the other day as I noted a job being
\nadvertised for a new Director of Corporate Services at the
\nUK.
\nCivil Nuclear Police Authority.<\/p>\n
i.e. The Nukiller Police.<\/p>\n
In other words:
\nThe police authority which has its origins in the
\nAtomic Energy Authority ( Special Constables ) Act
\nof 1976,
\nand which is now a part of UK.
\nDepartment for Energy and Climate Change.<\/p>\n
I’ll keep repeating that I have been saying for a long time now.<\/p>\n
– Nukiller Power is just much as environmental dangerous as is
\nclimate change.<\/p>\n
– That there will always be civil liberty issues to address with
\nthe use of Nukiller Power: the result of the security
\nconcerns which this technology always creates for us.<\/p>\n
– The only long term solution to climate change will come by
\nrethinking that we are all doing within the economy,
\nand change the way we run our lives.<\/p>\n
