{"id":1351,"date":"2023-05-18T11:37:42","date_gmt":"2023-05-18T10:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=1351"},"modified":"2023-05-18T11:37:42","modified_gmt":"2023-05-18T10:37:42","slug":"linking-up-some-of-my-recent-campaigning-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=1351","title":{"rendered":"Linking up some of my recent campaigning work."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much of my time now involves undertaking Joined-up-campaigning, and showing just how issues are linked one to another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So with that in mind here are some links just what I have been doing and looking at of late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">DRS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA historic moment\u201d: first meeting for rail campaigners with nuclear industry<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-railbusinessdaily wp-block-embed-railbusinessdaily\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"djMGwwATGw\"><a href=\"https:\/\/news.railbusinessdaily.com\/a-historic-moment-first-meeting-for-rail-campaigners-with-nuclear-industry\/\">\u201cA historic moment\u201d: first meeting for rail campaigners with nuclear industry<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;\u201cA historic moment\u201d: first meeting for rail campaigners with nuclear industry&#8221; &#8212; RailBusinessDaily\" src=\"https:\/\/news.railbusinessdaily.com\/a-historic-moment-first-meeting-for-rail-campaigners-with-nuclear-industry\/embed\/#?secret=djMGwwATGw\" data-secret=\"djMGwwATGw\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>            Vegan PPE<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>One aspect of the DRS visit concerned wearing PPE [ Personal protective equipment ] &#8211; especially around the engine sheds, I had no problem with wearing head protection and a high viz waistcoat, but pointed out that as a vegan I do not and will not wear any footwear made if animal skins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is what I received in the correspondence I received on the issue: &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216; We don\u2019t have many visitors especially where we have to provide PPE, so this is the first time this has been raised.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As things worked out I could make the visit wearing my normal Vegan footwear by keeping to a series of marked safe paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The follow up being that I was able to note over the following to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vegansociety.com\/get-involved\/international-rights-network\/veganism-workplace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">In January 2020, an employment tribunal confirmed that veganism comes within the scope of legal protection under the 2010 Equality Act.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>                   Astute Class Nuclear Submarine Manual<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>One of my recent book purchases is a Haynes Manual upon the workings of the Astute Class Nuclear Submarines which are currently being build by BAE Systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The manual not only gives lots of illustrations about these deadly underwater craft which are currently being build, and an outline of the commissioning process.<br>Of special interest are the various photographs in the book, and a map of the Barrow Upon Furness dockyard where they are being built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a very useful campaigning reference book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/haynes.com\/en-gb\/astute-class-nuclear-submarine-manual\">https:\/\/haynes.com\/en-gb\/astute-class-nuclear-submarine-manual<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Much of my time now involves undertaking Joined-up-campaigning, and showing just how issues are linked one to another.
