{"id":139,"date":"2009-04-12T06:06:59","date_gmt":"2009-04-12T06:06:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rahu.dk\/martynlowe\/?p=139"},"modified":"2010-05-30T08:41:43","modified_gmt":"2010-05-30T08:41:43","slug":"why-i-am-vegie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=139","title":{"rendered":"Why I Am Vegie."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I turned vegetarian on the 26th of January 1970.<\/p>\n<p>One of the reasons why I became vegetarian was because it is<br \/>\nan extension of my Pacifist, Humanitarian, and Atheist<br \/>\nphilosophy.<\/p>\n<p>I also became vegetarian because it means that one can grow<br \/>\nmore food, and thus help to combat world starvation.<\/p>\n<p>Even after the growth of the vegetarian movement, and after<br \/>\nall these years, I still find people asking just why I am Vegie,<br \/>\nor have very little idea upon just what a Vegie diet entails.<\/p>\n<p>Once a year I go visit my doctor for a health check.<br \/>\nOne of the queries I get a &#8216;well done&#8217; for doing at these visits<br \/>\nresults from my being Vegie.<\/p>\n<p>Being vegetarian reduces the chance of developing many<br \/>\nmedical conditions , such as stomach problems, high colostral<br \/>\nlevels, etc.<\/p>\n<p>There is also another reason for being vegetarian: &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>It helps in the struggle to stop climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Because it takes less energy and petrochemical resources to<br \/>\ngrow the crops which comprise a vegetarian diet.<\/p>\n<p>This just goes to show that there is no such thing as one simple<br \/>\nreason as to why I became Vegie.<\/p>\n<p>There is an old saying:<br \/>\n&#8216;You are what you eat&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>In this time of climate change worries there should be a new<br \/>\nsaying: &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Your planet will change with what you eat.<\/p>\n<p>Just think about it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I turned vegetarian on the 26th of January 1970.
