{"id":141,"date":"2009-04-18T16:20:46","date_gmt":"2009-04-18T16:20:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rahu.dk\/martynlowe\/?p=141"},"modified":"2010-05-30T05:20:34","modified_gmt":"2010-05-30T05:20:34","slug":"what%e2%80%99s-the-colour-of-your-shirt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=141","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s the Colour of Your Shirt?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The recent political struggles between the Yellow &amp; Red Shirt<br \/>\nmovements in Thailand reminds me of an earlier era.<\/p>\n<p>During the 1930s we had the Communist Reds, Nazi Brown<br \/>\nshirts, and Fascist Black shirts.<\/p>\n<p>In 1931 Paul Poirt came up with the idea of a Green Shirt to<br \/>\nsybloblise peace. The use of this colour was based upon the<br \/>\nfact that olive branches are green.<br \/>\nThis idea was backed by the New York based New History<br \/>\nSociety which sold these shirts, as did the War Resisters<br \/>\nInternational.<\/p>\n<p>In 1934 the music hall <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lupino_Lane\" target=\"_blank\">Lupino Lane<\/a> recorded a satitical song entitled Shirts. This was a very partriotic song which stated that Britains would never wear shirts.<\/p>\n<p>During the 1970s the Green Movement came in to being.<\/p>\n<p>It was during this era that I used to be in correspondence with<br \/>\nPetra Kelly.<\/p>\n<p>Petra was a founder of the Green Party in Germany.<br \/>\nWe both had a concern about the various dangers posed by the<br \/>\nNukiller Power Industry<\/p>\n<p>Since that time anything which is ecologically sound has<br \/>\nbecome known as green.<\/p>\n<p>With growing concerns upon the use of fossil fuels as a<br \/>\nmajor cause of global warming ,<br \/>\nwe are now starting to get many politicians,<br \/>\nand the Nukiller Power industry,<br \/>\nreferring to Nukes as being:<br \/>\n&#8216;A Green alternative to fossil fuels&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Well the major objections to the use of nukiller power have<br \/>\nnot changed that much since the 1970s.<\/p>\n<p>Just stating that one has changed ones colour does not<br \/>\nchange the facts.<\/p>\n<p>Nukiller power is major environmental polluter,<br \/>\nand nothing is ever going to change that fact.<\/p>\n<p>There is an old expression about being broke, or loosing the<br \/>\nshirt off ones back.<\/p>\n<p>Any development of Nukiller power will really be going for<br \/>\nbroke,<br \/>\nand we will all then be without a shirt to put on.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The recent political struggles between the Yellow &amp; Red Shirt movements in Thailand reminds me of an earlier era.
