Heating Norms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve been reading some of the very pessimistic views concerning climate change, and thinking back to what was normal whilst I was a child in the 1950s. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is before the effects of the clean Air Act came into being.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homes were heated by coal, and coal deliveries were a normal. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then we had paraffin heaters, with cans of paraffin in our homes. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

100 wa<\/strong>tt lighbulbs were normal. No energy saving bulbs were available. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was No double glazing and condensation would produce a sheet of ice inside of the window overnight. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Norms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other things which were very common included bedsits in which there was a gas cooker in the same room people slept in. That’s no longer legal. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So it shows just how things can be made much better. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we now have is very little time to push for all the other changes which need to be made. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We need<\/strong> to make these changes with more activists who<\/strong> combine life style with campaigning. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
