{"id":206,"date":"2010-01-23T10:28:44","date_gmt":"2010-01-23T10:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rahu.dk\/martynlowe\/?p=206"},"modified":"2010-05-29T13:30:58","modified_gmt":"2010-05-29T13:30:58","slug":"just-how-many-animal-lives-can-this-one-person-save","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=206","title":{"rendered":"Just How Many Animal Lives Can This One Person Save?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you look at the statistics for the average annual<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.animalethics.org.uk\/i-ch7-6-meat-consumption.html\" target=\"_blank\">consumption of meat per person world wide<\/a>,<br \/>\nthen the numbers are rather grim.<\/p>\n<p>On average <a href=\"http:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/posts\/view\/134498\/Germans-eat-1-000-animals\" target=\"_blank\">a German will eat more than 1,000 animals in their lifetime<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That is some<br \/>\n4 cows,<br \/>\n4 calves,<br \/>\n4 sheep,<br \/>\n46 pigs,<br \/>\n37 ducks,<br \/>\n46 turkeys,<br \/>\n12 geese,<br \/>\n&amp;<br \/>\n945 chickens.<\/p>\n<p>So if I were a German then I would of saved over 500 craetures from<br \/>\nbeing slaughtered since I became Vegetarian in January 1970.<\/p>\n<p>This says nothing about the number of fish which are killed<br \/>\nand eaten by an individual over a lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>I mention these statistics not so much as a personal boast,<br \/>\nbut as an example of what we can all do in order to make this a<br \/>\nmuch better world.<\/p>\n<p>It also shows just how much we can all achieve by taking up a<br \/>\nvegetarian diet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you look at the statistics for the average annual consumption of meat per person world wide, then the numbers are rather grim.
