{"id":35,"date":"2008-04-30T07:47:04","date_gmt":"2008-04-30T07:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rahu.dk\/martynlowe\/?p=35"},"modified":"2008-05-02T12:29:42","modified_gmt":"2008-05-02T12:29:42","slug":"send-jamie-oliver-to-jail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=35","title":{"rendered":"Send Jamie Oliver to Jail."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I keep being told how bad food, and food additives, are a<br \/>\nmajor contributing factor in the bad behaviour of children.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last few years there has been a lot of attention<br \/>\nfocused upon the quality of food which is served out in the<br \/>\nschools.<\/p>\n<p>The food writer and chef Jamie Oliver has been very vocal<br \/>\nupon this subject.<\/p>\n<p>The Veggies food co-operative in Nottingham have done a lot<br \/>\nof work to improve school meals within the city.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who has been within a UK Hospital over the last few<br \/>\nyears will tell you just how bad the quality of NHS<br \/>\n( National Health Service ) food had become.<\/p>\n<p>Even more worrying are the continuing reports upon the<br \/>\nnutritional value of what is being served to patients.<\/p>\n<p>Yet it is not just within Schools and hospitals that bad food<br \/>\nis served up on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p>Food &amp; Nutrition is a Criminal Issue.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I first meet Ronnie Lee before he founded the Animal<br \/>\nLiberation Front ( ALF ).<\/p>\n<p>Ronnie has been jailed three times for his ALF activities.<\/p>\n<p>Being a vegan in prison during the 1970s could present one<br \/>\nwith various nutritional problems, such as getting to be<br \/>\nable to get hold of enough dried fruit or nuts.<\/p>\n<p>I once asked Ronnie how he had survived a prison diet, and<br \/>\nhe told me that it was a question of having a word with<br \/>\nwhoever was working in the kitchen at this time.<\/p>\n<p>My mate Ippy spent a week in jail a couple of years back.<br \/>\nThis was for the none payment of fines incurred while on an<br \/>\nanti-militarist action.<\/p>\n<p>From what she told me about her experiences while inside<br \/>\nprison, there is a lot more work which needs to be done in<br \/>\norder to improve just what is being served up to both<br \/>\nvegetarian and none vegetarian prisoners.<\/p>\n<p>What might be done.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Implementing a locally grown organic \/ vegie food regime<br \/>\nin prisons would really help the prison population.<\/p>\n<p>Detoxing the bodies of younger prisoners, who have always<br \/>\neaten high additive junk food, should result in the better<br \/>\nbehaviour of all prisoners.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; teach cooking in prisons.<\/p>\n<p>This would held prisoners to appreciate good home made<br \/>\nfood, so that they will no wish to rely upon take away<br \/>\nfoods.<\/p>\n<p>In doing so they will also learn how to pay less for food,<br \/>\nlearn how to manage on their income,<br \/>\n&amp; thus help to alleviate many of the economic factors which<br \/>\nmight otherwise push some individuals towards a life of<br \/>\ncrime.<\/p>\n<p>If you are what you eat, then bad food for prisoners is a<br \/>\ncrime, but there is a none punishing solution which may be<br \/>\nenacted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I keep being told how bad food, and food additives, are a major contributing factor in the bad behaviour of children.
