{"id":420,"date":"2012-06-24T07:24:46","date_gmt":"2012-06-24T06:24:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=420"},"modified":"2018-04-02T17:23:34","modified_gmt":"2018-04-02T16:23:34","slug":"going-underground-or-just-going-missing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=420","title":{"rendered":"Going Underground Or Just Going Missing ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of years ago I put together a few notes for an article<br \/>\nabout people who have to go and live underground,<br \/>\nor just go missing.<\/p>\n<p>The idea of this article was to examine just how people might live<br \/>\nthis way within an increasingly networked society.<\/p>\n<p>In my notes I referred to Bob Robinson as B,<br \/>\nalthough I now know that his real name is Bob Lambert.<\/p>\n<p>I never got much further than penning these few notes.<\/p>\n<p>It is highly unlikely that I will ever complete this piece,<br \/>\nbut you might find these notes of some interest.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;\u00a0 &#8212; &#8212; &#8211; &#8212; &#8211; &#8212; &#8211; &#8212; &#8212;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Networked Society.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What ever happened to B?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We can all tell stories about people we spent some time with in ones younger years, but with whom we have lost contact.<\/p>\n<p>B was someone that I knew as a political activist over a<br \/>\nquarter of a century ago. Over time I moved on and lost<br \/>\ncontact with him.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->A few years ago I asked someone what even had become of B?<br \/>\nWhat I got was the reply: \u2018Don\u2019t ask\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>From which I gathered that the activities of B were still under<br \/>\ninvestigation by the authorities, &amp; it would be much wiser if I<br \/>\njust didn\u2019t know what had become of him.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know what happened to B.<\/p>\n<p>I Don\u2019t know what he did.<\/p>\n<p>All I know is that I may never know what ever become of B.<\/p>\n<p>Notes for other issues which might be included within the<br \/>\nbook, or which I thought about concluding this article with.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Underground &amp; unknown.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The consequences of Living Underground.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; No medical records.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; No Life insurance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; No Pension.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Exclusion from airline flights<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Unable to get any credit cards or borrow money from a bank.<\/p>\n<p>Underground &amp; Untellable.<\/p>\n<p>Going underground under a political dictatorship.<\/p>\n<p>3 examples: &#8211;<br \/>\n&#8211; Europe during the Nazi dictatorship.<br \/>\n&#8211; Chile under the Junta.<br \/>\n&#8211; Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>An Unrecorded life &#8211; Never being able to record a life in case<br \/>\none endangers an individual.<\/p>\n<p>Just moved on &#8211; A study of people who just disappear from<br \/>\nthere families &amp; friends for none political reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Identity Theft.<\/p>\n<p>The difference between going underground in the old days in<br \/>\nwhich might get a false identity via paper &amp; manual records,<br \/>\nand the effects of modern high tech records &amp; various ID<br \/>\nrecords.<\/p>\n<p>Myths surrounding the need for more ID security on the<br \/>\npretext of \u2018Terrorism\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Networked Society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of years ago I put together a few notes for an article about people who have to go and live underground, or just go missing.
