{"id":436,"date":"2012-08-25T06:29:09","date_gmt":"2012-08-25T06:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=436"},"modified":"2012-08-25T06:29:09","modified_gmt":"2012-08-25T06:29:09","slug":"question-the-sami-certificate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=436","title":{"rendered":"Question The SAMI Certificate."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Security Association for the Maritime Industry international<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seasecurity.org\/standards-accreditation\/sami-accreditation-for-pmscs\/\" target=\"_blank\">certification programme<\/a> is an scheme run by SAMI<br \/>\n( <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seasecurity.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Security Association for the Maritime Industry <\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Referring to these <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seasecurity.org\/standards-accreditation\/\" target=\"_blank\">Standards &amp; Certification<\/a>,<br \/>\nSAMI states that they have introduced:<br \/>\n\u2018a level of compliance and scrutiny to ensure that the maritime<br \/>\nindustry can easily identify reputable private maritime security<br \/>\ncompanies.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>One of the companies which has gained this certification is the<a href=\"http:\/\/gotridentgroup.com\/site\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Trident Group.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is also one of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seasecurity.org\/directory\/\" target=\"_blank\">30 membership companies<\/a> which makes up SAMI.<\/p>\n<p>During may Lloyd\u2019s List identified some Trident armed guards in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lloydslist.com\/ll\/sector\/ship-operations\/article397768.ece\" target=\"_blank\">video shooting <\/a>at a pirate skiff\u00a0 .<\/p>\n<p>Here are two quotes from the newspaper story: &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018 The International Association of Maritime Security Professionals<br \/>\nissued a statement on its website stating that the PMSC in the<br \/>\nvideo had employed a questionable use of force &#8230; \u2019<\/p>\n<p>While SAMI stated that it: &#8211;<br \/>\n\u201cclearly demonstrates that clarification on the rules for the use of<br \/>\nforce is needed\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clearly the activities of\u00a0 Trident,<br \/>\nand worth of\u00a0 the SAMI certificate,<br \/>\ndo need to be very closely examined.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Security Association for the Maritime Industry international certification programme is an scheme run by SAMI ( The Security Association for the Maritime Industry ).
