It increasing looks as though the effects of religionist
\nthinking is going to be the greatest threat to our hard won
\nhuman rights.<\/p>\n
I am not talking about religion itself, but those who would
\nhave us all on our knees worshiping some kind of mythical
\nbeing.<\/p>\n
Now if people wish to believe in any kind of religious idea,
\nthen they should be left alone to pursue such activities.<\/p>\n
It makes no difference to me if they worship Christ, Buddha,
\nor Satin.<\/p>\n
Christian, Satinest, Hindu, Flat Earthers, or followers of
\nthe pink rabbit.<\/p>\n
It’s all the same to me.<\/p>\n
Just as long as they pursue these ideas as consenting adults in private!<\/p>\n
My objection to religion comes from being those religionists
\nwho try & force their ideas upon others.<\/p>\n
\n
This also means that I find it highly objectionable for
\nchildren to be taught religious propaganda within schools.<\/p>\n
Just Don’t Insult Me!<\/p>\n
To state that there is a god is highly insulting to our
\nintelligence.<\/p>\n
Yet you don’t find atheists killing, maiming, or imprisoning
\npeople for saying that there is a god, but that is exactly
\nwhat religionist have always done to we atheists.<\/p>\n
Much of the increasing danger of religion come in the form
\nof ( so called ) ‘Radical Muslims’ *
\nwho see their religion as all encompassing, & thus far more
\nimportant that anything else in the world.<\/p>\n
Not only do I regard this as a form of arrogant thinking, but also as one of the greatest dangers to our hard won human
\nrights, and to our basic right to be able to express what we
\nknow to be true.<\/p>\n
The issues around the Rushdie affair, Jutlands Posten
\ncartoon, & the Sudanese teddy bear named muhammed, are
\nall to do with the right of Free Speech, & the right to self
\nexpression.<\/p>\n
It is because of such activities that I would define
\nIslamaphobia as just an excuse to attack our good atheist &
\nhumanitarian values.<\/p>\n
The over reaction of some Muslims to such expression of
\nopinion, as exemplified with the film ‘Heinous’, are playing
\ninto the hands of extreme fascist groups.<\/p>\n
Muslin attacks & suicide bombers are doing us all no good in
\nterms of combating right wing or authoritarian tendencies
\nwithin Europe & the United States.<\/p>\n
It’s not an excuse to appease muslin extremists by saying
\nthat they are under attack by others. That is just like
\nexcusing Zionism because Jews suffer from anti-Semitism.<\/p>\n
Neither should we refrain from criticising the homophonic
\ntendencies of many Africans or West Indians , just on the
\nbasis that we might be accused of racism.<\/p>\n
In a free society no one should be exempt from criticism by
\nthe threat of violence, or imprisonment, which is exactly
\nwhat many religionists would like to be see enacted upon us
\nall.<\/p>\n
It is not racist to criticise the cruelty which occurs with
\nthe production Halal meat . Just read what has been put out
\nupon this issue by the Muslim Vegetarian Society.<\/p>\n
Here it might also be noted that there is a distinction
\nbetween islamic ideology, and the sexist behaviour of some
\nMuslims who would give their own spin upon the Koran in
\norder to excuse such behaviour.<\/p>\n
Extending the definition of Human Rights.<\/p>\n
Perhaps it is about time that we atheists should start to
\nshout about our human rights, & our right to self
\nexpression.<\/p>\n
It is also about time that the Universal declamation of
\nHuman Rights be extended to state that we Atheists have the
\nright to state that There is No God.<\/p>\n
