{"id":540,"date":"2014-08-05T05:47:11","date_gmt":"2014-08-05T05:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=540"},"modified":"2014-08-05T05:47:11","modified_gmt":"2014-08-05T05:47:11","slug":"whats-going-around","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=540","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s Going Around."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>There is an old Cockney saying: &#8211;<br \/>\nWhat goes around comes around.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This saying might well be applied to the world ocean currents.<\/p>\n<p>Last night the following qustion struck me.<\/p>\n<p>How long does it take for the North Pacific Current to complete one <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/North_Pacific_Gyre\" target=\"_blank\">rotation<\/a> before it comes back to pick up more radioactive water from the Fukushimma nukiller power plant ?<\/p>\n<p>The key point to remember is that the plant is and will be contaminating the Pacific for many decades to come.<\/p>\n<p>One does not need to be a scientist to work out what happens next.<\/p>\n<p>Many coasts of the Pacific will recieve yet more radioactive water:\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 time and time and time and time and time again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How long must we keep reading reports such as the following?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/enenews.com\/tv-huge-increase-dead-mammals-california-coast-unprecedented-level-sick-seals-sea-lions-annual-record-set-7-months-found-starving-drooling-brain-damaged-suffering-seizures-sea-lions-myster\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018Huge increase in dead and sick sea mammals on California coast \u2014 Unprecedented numbers,<br \/>\nannual record broken in 7 months.\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/enenews.com\/tv-millions-fish-dead-oregon-coast-craziest-ive-blame-people-being-alarmed-aquarium-kind-looks-like-apocalypse-sign-anchovies-doing-good-video\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018 Millions of fish dead at Oregon coast \u2014 \u201cCraziest thing I\u2019ve ever seen\u201d \u2014 \u201cYou can\u2019t blame people for being alarmed\u201d \u2014 Aquarium: \u201cIt kind of looks like the apocalypse\u2026 especially big numbers\u2026\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>or<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/enenews.com\/plutonium-releases-from-fukushima-were-transported-longer-distances-than-chernobyl-researchers-surprised-sample-with-most-plutonium-was-at-site-furthest-from-fukushima-plant-concern-over-plu\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018 Study: Plutonium from Fukushima went further than Chernobyl \u2014 Researchers \u2018surprised\u2019 their most plutonium-contaminated sample was from site farthest from Fukushima plant \u2014 Concern material is flowing into Pacific Ocean from land.\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Yet many people still don\u2019t get it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What is happening at Fukushima is an ongoing disaster, and not something which happened in the past.<\/p>\n<p>We need to keep reminding ourselves about this fact on a daily basis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is an old Cockney saying: &#8211; What goes around comes around.
