The building which was the Scala Cinema
\non the Stroud Green Rd,
\nor to be exact:
\n15 The Parade, Stroud Green Road, Finsbury Park,
\nis no more.<\/p>\n
The Scala was a purpose built cinema which opened in
\nOctober 1914,
\nbecame New Scala in 1920,
\n& closed in 1924.<\/p>\n
The building was put to many purposes after it closed as a
\ncinema, such as a clothing factory, etc, etc.<\/p>\n
I had know the place since I was a child.<\/p>\n
A couple of years ago I managed to get a news story about
\nthe appalling state of the building in to the Islington
\nGazette.<\/p>\n
Unfortunate nothing ever came of my efforts.<\/p>\n
I passed the site 3 days ago,
\nand was sad to see that it is in the final stages of demolition.<\/p>\n
It’s sad to see that such an important historical building
