{"id":67,"date":"2008-07-06T08:22:53","date_gmt":"2008-07-06T08:22:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rahu.dk\/martynlowe\/?p=67"},"modified":"2008-07-09T06:47:26","modified_gmt":"2008-07-09T06:47:26","slug":"scaffolding-and-library-lists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.theproject.me.uk\/?p=67","title":{"rendered":"Scaffolding and Library Lists."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Library and Information work is not just about being able to<br \/>\nprovide information.<\/p>\n<p>Neither is it just about how to use  book content pages,<br \/>\nindices, or being able to update loose leaf binder files.<\/p>\n<p>It is also about being able to interpret some of the<br \/>\nfollowing:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Telephone area codes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Post Office sort Codes, or Zip codes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Dewey Classification numbers.<\/p>\n<p>&amp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; ISBN &amp; ISSN Numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Of course there are a lot of other codes or information<br \/>\nsystems which one may be asked about during the course of<br \/>\na typical Library working day.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Here are just two examples that come to mind:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Banking sort codes.<\/p>\n<p>&amp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Cloud cover types.<\/p>\n<p>Just once in a while one will be asked about something upon<br \/>\nwhich there are no books upon the subject which are to be<br \/>\nfound within the library.<\/p>\n<p>Subjects which one has never thought about before.<\/p>\n<p>I was recently asked if I could find a book upon various<br \/>\nScaffolding techniques.<\/p>\n<p>It?s not the sort of thing most of us think about during the<br \/>\ncourse of our lives.<\/p>\n<p>It?s not just a simple matter of putting up poles and<br \/>\nattaching them to each other.<\/p>\n<p>The key to good &amp; safe scaffolding lies in just how one<br \/>\nbraces what is puts up, while taking in to account the area<br \/>\navailable to use, and a weight loading.<\/p>\n<p>That is why my respect for scaffolders has increased<br \/>\nsomewhat during the last few months, and why I now catch<br \/>\nmyself admiring good scaffolding work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Library and Information work is not just about being able to provide information.
