What Next For New Build ?

Here is a thought or two about nukiller new build.

Looking at all the companies & countries which want to do it we find: –

EDF has suspended all work on its planned Hinkley C nukiller plant.

That goes hand in hand with the companies financial crisis.

– The Chinese stock market is falling, and so they might have to re-finance what they are doing.

– While Toshiba has just taken a two to three Billion Dollar loss.

That follows on from the companies earlier financial scandals.

All of which make me wonder just what the future will hold for these companies, and whether they are really willing to chance their money in such investments.

At this stage all we can do is specular upon just how this will play out over the next year to eighteen months.

The Political Kipper Season

The Political Kipper Season has now arrived for the British Press.

Yes it’s Election time.

So don’t expect to read much more than what various politicians are trading as insults, one to the other, for the next four weeks.

Yet what’s the point in voting when
We Have No Say in Many of the Decisions Which Effect Our Lives?

So here are six reasons why I don’t vote, have never voted, and will never vote in any government or local government election: –

The unelected House of Lords.

– The City of London Corperation, or last rotten borough.

This is where any company which operates in the city can get to vote, and vote again.

– The unelected and overpriced monarchy.

– The Greater London Council which was aboblished in 1986.

To misquote the old saying:-
When voting changed the system, then the System was Aboblished.

– The various unaccountable multinations,
such as the banks, and mining companies.

&

– How we now have no say as to just where nukiller waste will be dumped.

To quote Pierre-Joseph Proudhon: –

‘To be governed is to be watched over, inspected, spied on, directed, legislated at, regulated, docketed, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, assessed, weighed, censored, ordered about, by men who have neither the right, nor the knowledge, nor the virtue.

… To be governed is to be at every operation, at every transaction, noted, registered, enrolled, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under the pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, trained, ransomed, exploited, monopolized, extorted, squeezed, mystified, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, despised, harassed, tracked, abused, clubbed, disarmed, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and, to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, outraged, dishonoured.

That is government; that is its justice; that is its morality.’

Selling Death Below The Sea.

This years UDT 2014 [ Underwater ‘Defence’ Technology ]
arms fare and conference will take place in Liverpool between June 10th and 12th.

This is an event which its organisers describe as:
‘ The global event for underwater defence and security.’

It is an arms fair.

The event is being organised by the Clarion Events who run DSEI.

&

The UK Trade & Investment Defence & Security Organisation, which exists to help arms manufactures to export their weapons around the world.

The Deadly Merchants.

Such well know Arms manufacturers such as
– BAE Systems,
– Babcock International Group,
– James Fisher Defence,
&
– Lockheed Martin,
will be exhibiting their deadly products at the event.

Lesser known companies such as
– BMT Defence Services,
– Drumgrange Ltd,
&
– SeeByte
will also be exhibiting their products at the event.

The Deadly Buyers.

At UDT 2013 event there were representatives from 44 countries.

Such as:-

– Colombia,
– Israel,
– the Russian Federation,
&
– United Arab Emirates.

The most telling fact is that this included individuals from China, Japan, & South Korea.

– All of which are involved in territorial despites with each other.

– All of which are involved in miliary stand-offs in the region.

Protest!

Merseyside Peace Network will be holding a protest outside of the event from 08.30. on the morning of June 10th.

On the last day of UDT 2014 a wreath will be presented to the organisers of the arms fare.

This is in order to remember all those who will be killed because of the weapons sold at the UDT 2014 event.

Samsung On Jeju Island

Yesterday I took part in a protest outside of the Samsung shop on Tottenham Court Road.

Here is why.

The Korean Government are destroying Kangjung Kurumbi in order to construct a new naval base.

It is on the Jeju Island.

Samsung are the main construction company which is building the new Jeju navel base.

Samsung are a major arms company.

There is an International Campaign for the Health and Labour Rights of Samsung Electronics Workers

Join the Global Campaign to Save Jeju Island.

And More ….

Samsung are also one of this years Olympic sponsors,
which is another reason why we should all boycott the event.

A Wrong Royal Shopping List.

One of the most telling aspects about the British Monarchy is just
which companies have made Royal Warrant Holders.

Many of these companies are boycotted as a result of their activities.

Here is a list of just a few of them: –

Boots.

Coca Cola.

Samsung

Shell.

&

Unilever.

They also purchase ‘sporting firearms’ from  Holland & Holland,
which is another company that should be closed down.

It’s time for the royals to rethink their shopping list!

Westinghouse And Toshiba Nukiller.

Following the news that both E.ON and RWE are pulling out of a
project to building new nukiller plants in the UK,
there has been a lot of speculation about which companies will
buy in to Horizon.

One of the companies which has been mentioned in this context is
Westinghouse.

Westinghouse already own the Springfields plant in Lancashire
where nukiller fuel rods are manufactured.

Westinghouse has been in the ownership of Toshiba since 2006.

Another subsidiary of  Toshiba is the
Toshiba Power System Company,
which is heavily involved in the nukiller power industry.

Here is a quote from their website: –
‘ The Power Systems Company’s capabilities cover the full
spectrum of power generation systems, including high-efficiency
thermal and hydro power generation, renewables such as
geothermal and wind power, and nuclear power, all essential for
realizing the stable electricity supply essential for powering our
modern world.’

I doubt that many people in japan believe that line after the disaster at Fukushima.

Toshiba needs to be reminded about just how dangerous nukes can be.

Following that you can also boycott Toshiba –
until they pull out of the nukiller power industry.

Resisting the Olympics – A Resource List.

The 2012 Olympics are currently being built up by an
unprecedented media hype.

Yet there are many major objections as to how the event is being
run,  and just as many campaigners who are working to stop the
long lasting damage which it will create.

Background information and Resources.

This summer an army of occupation will take over the East End of
Cockneyland.

I refer to the army of  10,000 ‘security guards’,   7,000 military,
and the  large  number of extra police which will be in place
during this years Olympic event.

There are also many concerns about the way that this event will
both destroy many locally important ecological sites,
and how it will impact upon the civil rights of those who live in
the East End
.

Resisting the Olympics.

The good news is that there are now a growing number of groups
and organisations which are countering the Olympics.

Here are a few links to these networks: –

– Games Monitor  – debunking Olympics myths.

SAY NO TO LONDON 2012

The New Lammas Lands Defence Committee

&

NOGOE (No to Greenwich Olympic Equestrian Events)

Resistance to the Multinational Sponsors.

The other really perturbing aspect of the Olympics is that it is
being sponsored by some of the worlds largest & most
irresponsible multi-nationals.

Rather that list them all:
here is a list of some campaigns which are working against them.

On BP – The UK No Tar Sands Network

On EDF –  Boycott EDF

On RTZ – Partizans (People against Rio Tinto and its Subsidiaries)

On Coca-Cola – No Sweat

On Muckdonalds – McCruelty

&

On Dow Chemical – The International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) have also protested against this Dow sponsorship.

The 2012 Olympic games will be a disaster, and we should support all of these campaigns.

Vancouver 2010

There was also a lot of resistance to the
2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver BC Canada.

There is a lot of information you can find online about just what happened during this event.

These include: –

No One Is Illegal Vancouver!

&

Resisting the Olympics Resources

What Does EDF Really Mean?

Have you ever wondered what the Initials of the Nukiller Power provider EDF might mean?

I did so and came up with a few possible answers.

Here is my list:-

– Especially Dangerous & Faulty.

– Expensive Dodgy & Fissile.

– Everything Dangerous & Fissile.

– Extremely Dangerous Fellows.

– Economically Damaging & Faulty.

– Ensuring Damages Follow.

– [ An ] Eroding Deadly Failure.

– Emissions Destructive & Frightening.

– Ensuring a Desolate Future.

– Entering a Doomed Future.

– Enterprising a Deadly Folly.

All other ideas as to just what EDF might mean would be most welcome,
and I’ll just add then to this list.

Ely Cathedral

I recently paid a visit to Ely.

In the 22 years since I last paid a visit to the city it was
changed a lot for the better.

A major restoration of the cathedral has left it looking like
the magnificent building it is,
rather that the rather neglected place which I remember it as
being.

There is also a stained glass museum within the cathedral
which I would highly recommend anyone to visit.

What I found of particular interest is to be found within the
Lady Chapel,
which is a very fine example of Gothic architecture.

At one stage the windows of this chapel was servery damaged
and there are now just plain glass windows where formally
there would of been magnificent stained glass windows.

Should you visit the Lady Chapel then you might notice
something else which is not ‘bog standard’ in most cathedral
buildings,
for etched in to the bottom of each window is listed one of the
bodies which has help to restore the cathedral,
with with the organisonal symbol or crest placed next to
their name.

The first one of these I noted was that of
Tescos PLC.

I jest not.

The other names include:

– The Marshall of Cambridge.

– The Mercers Company.

– The Kings School.

– British Railway Board.

plus

Barclays, Midland, Lloyds, and Trustee savings banks.

Just how one can justify the inclusion of any references to these corporate bodies as a
part of such an important historical building still needs to be seen.

Cambridge Electronic Instutries also have their own window
within the lady Chapel.

Cambridge Electronic Industries
manufactures electronic interconnection items.

It is owned by Wilson-Mottaz Ltd.

I’d be interested to learn just which companies their products are sold to?
